Joe Budden Clears Up Rumors About Running From Offset

TheSource Feed - Wed, 10/17/2018 - 12:24pm

Rapper turned culture commentator, Joe Budden, recently got exposed by Offset over his “volatile” statements about his wife, Cardi B, on Revolt’s State of the Culture.

Offset called out Joey as a “h*e n***a speaking on women,” who “ran ‘in Barnes’ like I was gon do sum to you lol.” Offset also insinuated that the Rage & the Machine emcee is a snitch.

Joey made sure to address the alleged backsliding on his podcast, The Joe Budden Podcast. Joe explained his version of the occasion in question.

“I don’t know why I still think I’m the guy that can hold a piss. He saw me, I didn’t see him.” He also went on to speak on Cardi saying, “She is great and amazing and I want her to continue to be here. I don’t want to lose her to police, to jail, to hatin’ bi***es. New York is rocking right now and Cardi’s a big part of that.”

He also cleared the air and confirmed he doesn’t want any rap beef with Offset saying, “I love Cardi I’m not about to beef with a n*gga over his wife that I love. I thought that was our common ground [laughs]. I was saying Cardi was too big a superstar to behave that way ’cause people have it out for her period.”

Well, Joe cleaned that up better than Mr.Clean himself! Check out the episode up top.

Ariana Grande Returns the $100K Engagement Ring to Pete Davidson

TheSource Feed - Wed, 10/17/2018 - 12:22pm

Rumors have it that the death of Ariana Grande’s ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, was a breaking point for her relationship with Pete Davidson, and the split was a long time coming.

Sources close to the singer says she already returned the nearly $100k engagement ring Davidson gave her back in June. The ring which was roughly about 3 carats was a one of a kind, made specifically for Grande.

Davison reportedly brought the ring up into question after the split and Grande kindly forked it over without a hassle.

Their pea cup pig, Piggy Smallz that the couple adopted last month went to Ariana Grande since she originally brought it. Davidson has a tattoo of Smallz on his torso so we’re sure he will always keep Piggy’s memory alive.

Kanye West Gave Away Free Yeezys to Kids in Uganda then Danced With Them

TheSource Feed - Wed, 10/17/2018 - 12:18pm

We all know that Kanye West recently traveled to Uganda to chip away at his forthcoming album Yhandi, but it looks like he’s also getting in touch with the people of the Mother Land.

This past Tuesday (Oct. 16), Ye shared videos riding through Uganda where he met hundreds of people, mostly children, who seemed to be expecting him. He also met with the elders before he was treated to a song and dance by the large group of youths.

Yeezy gave away quite a few Yeezy sneakers and the people blessed him with chants of “Kanye.”

The Chicago emcee eventually gets swarmed by paparazzi, but it didn’t stop the rapper from dancing with the kids later on that day. Kim and Ye have also met with the President of Uganda where talks of tourism and the arts were the topic of discussion.

The album Kanye West is working on in Uganda is slated to be released on Nov. 23, which is also Black Friday.

Co-founder of Microsoft, Paul Allen, Dead at 65

TheSource Feed - Wed, 10/17/2018 - 12:14pm

Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft passed away today (Oct 16) at the age of 65 in Seattle. Ironically, this is the same city in which he was born. His death was a result of complications from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Allen was diagnosed with Stage 1 Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 1982. The year following that, he resigned  before getting rebuffed by Gates. Allen actually founded Microsoft in 1975 with Bill Gates.  In addition he also owned the Seattle Seahawks and the Portland Trail Blazers

He officially left as a member on Microsoft’s company’s board of directors in November of 2000.

His sister, Jody, released a statement where she says, “While most knew Paul Allen as a technologist and philanthropist, for us he was a much-loved brother and uncle, and an exceptional friend. Paul Allen’s family and friends were blessed to experience his wit, warmth, his generosity and deep concern”.

“For all the demands on his schedule, there was always time for family and friends. At this time of loss and grief for us – and so many others – we are profoundly grateful for the care and concern he demonstrated every day.”

Canada Becomes First Industrialized Nation To Legalize Marijuana

TheSource Feed - Wed, 10/17/2018 - 11:10am

Canada became the first industrialized nation to legalize recreational cannabis on Wednesday, but a lawful buzz will be hard to come by in its biggest cities like Toronto and Vancouver, which will have no stores open.

Weed enthusiasts in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada’s easternmost province, kicked off the first permissible sales at midnight. Over 100 people braved the cold and wind in the province’s capital St. John’s, lining up outside a Tweed-branded store owned by Canopy Growth Corp., the world’s most recognized cannabis producer.

Canopy’s Chief Executive Bruce Linton rang in the first sales to residents Ian Power and Nikki Rose.

“I came out tonight to be the first person in Canada to purchase the first legal gram of recreational cannabis, to help see the end of prohibition in Canada finally,”

Power said.

The day was historic for the country as adult Canadians will be able to legally smoke recreational marijuana after nearly a century-long ban, however, many provincial governments’ approval of only a small number of shops so far, and a shortage of weed supplied to these stores, means most Canadians’ first toke on Wednesday will likely be of illegal weed.

Despite the dearth of stores in Canada’s biggest cities, consumers can buy legal marijuana online, from provincial governments or licensed retailers, although delivery will take a few days.

Other countries around the world, many of whom are just approving medical marijuana, are watching Canada’s recreational legalization, which combines federal rules with varying provincial regulations.

Cardi B and Her Team Reportedly Discussing Removing Nicki Minaj Diss From New Music

TheSource Feed - Wed, 10/17/2018 - 11:04am

As you may know, the Cardi B and Nicki Minaj beef is in full force and seems like it won’t slow down any time soon. TMZ reports in the creation of new music, Cardi has her eyes and bars set squarely on the Queen creator.

The report states there is a discussion going on between Cardi and her team on if the bars placed toward Nicki should remain. Cardi says yes because she is always true to herself, the squad thinks otherwise because in their eyes its over and Cardi has won the battle and continuing forward with mentioning of their issue would halt further progress.

The team may have a point, Cardi’s star is shining brightly as she still sits on top of the Billboard Hot 100 and took home major awards from this week’s BET Hip Hop Awards. With a new banger with Pardison Fontaine on the waves, it may just be best for the “I Like It” rapper to move forward, even though last month’s confrontation at New York Fashion Week is likely still fresh in her mind.

What do you think? Should the diss stay or go?

Lil Wayne Receives ‘I Am Hip Hop’ Award at 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards

TheSource Feed - Wed, 10/17/2018 - 10:25am

Last night the 2018 BET Hip-Hop Awards went down and had performances from Cardi B, T.I., Lil Baby and more, with winners including DJ Khaled, The Carters, XXXTentacion and more. The biggest honor of the night was handed to Lil Wayne as this year’s “I Am Hip Hop” recipient.

The award was presented by Bun B and DJ Khaled and Wayne were joined on stage by his mother and daughter. He provided an interesting story regarding a man named Uncle Bob who saved his life after a suicide attempt.

“There’s a man in New Orleans, his name is Uncle Bob. He came into an apartment one day. He bust in the door. Guns drawn—he saw nobody. He saw legs on the floor. It was my legs. He saw blood everywhere. Bunch of police hopped over me. He refused to do so. I never knew, I talked to him the other day, I never knew EMS was on the scene. He said EMS tried twice and they told him, ‘There’s nothing.’ He refused to let that die. He told his somebody, ‘Come drive this car. Forget a ambulance.’ He brought me to the hospital himself. He refused to wait, he kicked in the doors. He said, ‘You get whatever you gotta do and you make sure this child make it.’ Not only that, that day, Uncle Bob was a homicide detective. He was off on detail. He just heard the call and came. Not only did he refuse to sit, not only he give me to the doctors and leave, he refused to leave, he stayed and made sure that I made it.”

Uncle Bob now has two amputated legs and when Wayne asks what can he do for him, Bob only replies with wanting a job, not accepting any handouts. You can hear the passion of the story directly from Weezy F. Baby below.

A Future and Juice WRLD project is on the way.

The Freebands rapper and Juice WRLD decide to link up for an upcoming album. The title itself is interesting and speaks to the current state of Hip-Hop. Some of the songs titles are, “Jet Lag,” “AfterLife,” “Oxy,” and the new release, “Fine China.” On the side of the board, are other possible song titles in question marks, “Whatever you addicted too,” and “$$$ is a drug?” There was no release date included with the announcement, but we hope to hear the project before the end of the year.

Pusha T Reveals a Woman 40 is Dating Told Him About Drake’s Son

TheSource Feed - Wed, 10/17/2018 - 9:30am

Over the last week the biggest story of Hip-Hop in 2018, Pusha T vs. Drake, sprung back to the top of everyone’s minds due to an appearance of the latter on LeBron James’ HBO show The Shop. During his time there, Drake stated Kanye West leaked the information about his son and expressed how Pusha T went too far in the beef. Now, Pusha T is a guest of The Joe Budden Podcast and reveals that it wasn’t Kanye but the information stemmed from his own man.

Episode 188 dives directly into the beef and sparks reactions to the information, then Pusha reveals beginning at the 24-minute mark that he found out about Drake’s son, the Adidas deal and more due to 40 pillow talking with a woman he was dating who then relayed the information:

“The information came from 40, it didn’t come from Kanye. 40 is sleeping with a woman who begins to, you know, he talks to her daily, five, six hours a day. Provides opportunity for her and ultimately speaks about how he’s disgruntled about certain things, notoriety and things involving Drake and his career. With that also came the fact that Drake has a child, with that, also came the trip everybody took to see the child and bring him gifts and all of this information. She divulged this information. That’s where it came from.”

Pusha T would go on to say that he never mentioned it because he was being spiteful.

In addition to the talk about the beef with Drake, Pusha also details the back-to-back G.O.O.D. Music releases that he admits was rushed, interactions with Kanye West and more. Check out the entire podcast from the link below.

Former President of Iran Quotes Tupac to Troll the United States on Twitter

TheSource Feed - Wed, 10/17/2018 - 12:06am

Tupac’s back! This time in Iran!

Well, not exactly, but the former president of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took to Twitter yesterday to take shots at the U.S. government on the 52nd anniversary of the birth of the Black Panther Party of Self Defense.

One of the main objectives of the #BlackPantherParty was feeding the hungry; which did not sit well with the #UnitedStatesGovernment . #BrotherHuey #October15

" It's time to fight back that's what Huey said. Two shots in the dark, now Huey's dead"

— Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (@Ahmadinejad1956) October 15, 2018

Tupac’s mother, the late Afeni Shakur, was on the infamous “Panther 21” who was pregnant with the rap icon when she was on trial for an alleged explosives attack on a Queens police station in 1969.

The former Iranian president’s criticism of the United States government comes amid looming U.S. sanctions expected to cripple Iran’s economy further.

The Trump administration has taken a tough stance against Iran, declaring it one of the top terrorist threats facing the United States.

Styles P and Dave East Discuss Rap Beef, Battles and the Rules of The Hip-Hop Lyrical Warfare

TheSource Feed - Tue, 10/16/2018 - 11:56pm

“The rules of fair play do not apply in love and war.”

A 14th-century poet named John Lyly made this statement over 400 years ago.  Never in his wildest dreams would he have expected these sage words to eclipse generations and culture, to finds themselves in the bedrock of rap music. When it comes down to rhyming… battling… lyrical warfare… there is no such thing as fair play.

At least that is what many of the most elite battlers believe…     whether we talking commercial industry or underground battle rap movement.

This sport (or verbal exchange of combat) not only deals with bars but often times personal shots. Busy Bee and Kool Moe Dee, Roxanne Shanté and UTFO or LL Cool J (and anyone that even acted like they wanted to get it) are great starting points to see customized lyricism aimed at your opponent can do when it unfolds. And while we can trace over the 45 years of Hip-Hop and see the roots of this, this form of “get at ‘em” is still in full effect.

Just this year alone, Drake and Pusha-T went at it.

The two of them produced not just piercing personal tracks that stung and offended, but made sure everyone really knows that the beef was real. Better still, the songs actually were bangers that people want to hear and party to.  Pusha-T’s album, Daytona, lead off with a song called “Infrared” that blazed Drake for having a ghostwriter. Drake immediately responded with “Duppy Freestyle.” Sooner than anyone could memorize the hook and it could turn into a “Back To Back,” Pusha-T hit us with the shut down winning blow entitled, “The Story of Adidon.” What made “Adidon” so power-packed? The track exposed Drake as a father and kind of made him look like a sambo.

Drake addressed “The Story of Adidon” on Lebron James’ new series on HBO The Shop.  He said,

“People love to say, like rap purists and people who just love confrontation, they love to say, ‘Aye there’s no rules in this shit.’ But there are fucking rules in this shit,” he said. “And I’m gonna tell you something: It’s like, I knew something was gonna come up about my kid. They had to add the deadbeat thing to make it more appealing, which is fine. I understand that. Even that, I was like, OK. The mom and dad thing, whatever. You don’t even know my family. But I’mma tell you, wishing death on my friend that has MS… I study rap battles for a living. Now when you mention defenseless people who are sick in the hospital, that passed away, that really sent me to a place where I just believed then, and believe now, that there’s just a price that you have to pay for that. It’s over. You’re gonna get… someone’s gonna fucking punch you in the fucking face. The shit’s done, the event’s over. I wanted to do other things. I didn’t wanna further your reputation or your career by rapping back at you and having this exchange. And that was it for me.”

When asked by Lebron James about the battle and why he chose not to continue the war, Drake replied

“This is not even a place that I necessarily want to go. And to all the people who enjoy that, I tip my hat to you… Back against the wall. I either go all the way filthy or I fall back and I have this sort of chink in my armor for the rest of time to a rap purist. Which is fine, I can live with that. I would much rather live with that than the things that I was about to… the research I did, the things that I was gonna say, and the places that I was gonna go.”

That sounds good, Drizzy. As a rap god, you are on a level where you can choose to respond or not.  But can you say that there are rules about battling? Styles P says “Nah, B.”

Radio host Ebro read a statement that Styles wrote on Instagram, “Nothing is wrong with not engaging in actual warfare. It is actually the wisest thing to do. But never engage or expect rules. That’s with rap or the street.”

On Hot97’s Ebro hit show, Ebro In The Morning, SP broke down what he meant. “

You can’t expect rules in any type of warfare, not just rap… ain’t no rules. You have to go into it thinking that anything can happen. That’s why your best bet is to not engage.”

He further said, “We are beginning to forget a lot of rules in this culture because of stars.”

He is absolutely right. Hollywood’s influence (and perhaps even the ability to hide behind a social media platform) has put a battery in many a rapper’s backs. Saying whatever to get the W in one of those rules.

Momma used to say, “If you don’t like the heat, stay out the damn kitchen!”

Styles P and Dave East were on the show to promote their new album, Beloved.  All the parties in the room agreed that there is no-holds-barred when it comes to battling on wax –especially now when there are no censors on the prowl like back in the day— but Drake should have known better since he does watch battle rap.

Ebro reminded us that maybe Drake since he does follow battle rap, should have reflected on what really goes down when battling goes too far.  He said, “There is beef and then there is battle rap. Some people ain’t good in that space. Drake watches The UFC things [editor’s note: Ebro means URL] and there have been people shout to Math Hoffa (my boy), but he been up there a couple of times and he thought they crossed him too close. He took off on people.”

Dave East interjected, “But that’s that world. In the industry, you say you will do that. But if you see people…”

Math Hoffa, was not on the show but still weighed in, said

“Battle rap has no boundaries as far as content written against your opponent but when it comes to respect, I try to stay within the realms of my morality. I’m not gonna talk about someone’s dead homies or children. Some battlers cross these boundaries with no remorse… Depending on who you are in battle rap anything can be brought up, and you have to be prepared for it. One of my latest battles someone brought out and old fling. I had to be prepared to battle her too. Battle rap is exciting because it unpredictable and spontaneous at times but all in all its entertainment and should remain non-violent.”

Styles continued to spit knowledge.

“Pusha-T dropped an album. And then he [Drake] dropped the diss, the next day and mentioned his wife. He could have not done a record and straight up punched Drake in the face when he seen him because that’s a violation… and then you asking him to follow a guideline. That’s out of the question and something else he is asking is for him [Pusha T] to not follow tradition.”

Is it really tradition?

Absolutely, but it depends on which arena you are in to determine perimeters. Female battle rappers tend to be the most vulgar. In the tradition of Roxanne Shanté, these ladies go for the jugular. Queen of The Ring battler, 40B.A.R.R.S. concedes that she wishes everyone respected the way she battles and throws darts. “My only rule is keep the personal sh*t in a professional setting. You can say what you like in a battle, but outside of the ring is a different story.”

But Rare Breed Entertainment favorite, Qleen Paper buckles down and says, “Ain’t no rules in no type of beef or war. War is War. You win, how you win.”  URL champion Tay Roc also agreed, “Battle rap is no place for the weak hearted and rules go out the door when it comes down to defeating your opponent.”

But there are rules. League owner Eric Beasley (URL) understands how these boundaries have to be set up early on during negotiations, with the threat of financial reprimand as the ultimate insurer that no one violates. Beasley says, “Generally, artists let us know what is off limits for them. We do whatever we can to make sure that both parties have an opportunity to put everything on the table. We set conference calls up with our staff and both competitors to express their concerns and boundaries, and we move forward from there. However, if something offensive is said that was not discussed, then we just hope that the artists are professional enough to not take it from the battle rap stage to a physical confrontation.”

Physical confrontation does happen. Think about Math Hoffa, who years prior had a reputation of wilding on opponents that slick talked. Earlier this year another vet, Goodz Da Animal popped off on his opponent for what he asserts was a wisecrack about his daughter.  There really is a thin line that one walks on when battling. And fights in the battle world can not only cost money to the artists, but to the league owners and limit future opportunities for the emerging industry. It seems despite what the artists say, on a certain level, rules have to be set up.

Perhaps Drake is right. New Jersey’s Shotgun Suge is adamant, “There should never be rules about rap beef or battles. If it were rules, I would break them anyway.”

In a very rare occurrence, the video-sharing website has completely gone down, not loading any videos or menus on the desktop or mobile versions.

Reports from around the world quickly came in, shared on social media as users complained that they were unable to watch videos on Tuesday evening.

YouTube has not had a major crash of this kind in recent memory, with only small bugs and glitches typically affecting the site’s status.

YouTube is on average the 2nd most visited website in the world, and this is the first major crash of the website in years. It comes on the same day that Twitter also had a major malfunction, sending out strange spam notifications to users mobile devices.

YouTube has not publicly identified the cause of the downtime, but they have confirmed via Twitter that they are actively looking into the issue.

Toker, whose real name was Gilbert Izquierdo, helped create and pioneer the West Coast Chicano sound of Hip Hop in the mid-90s with Brownside.

Brownside was founded in 1994 by Ruthless Records/N.W.A. founder the late Eazy-E. Eazy signed the group to his Ruthless records label seeking to create a Chicano version of his critically acclaimed rap group N.W.A. Hit singles “Gang Related “ “Do or die” and “Eastside Drama” garnered Brownside mainstream success and opened many doors for Mexican American rappers.

Known for their raw lyrics and depictions of L.A gang culture, Brownside set a precedent in 90’s hip hop.

“No one had ever seen anything like it.” said friend and fellow Brownside artist L.A Eyekon.

“Toker was with Eazy-E rapping in both English and Spanish. At the time, no one else had ever done that. He spoke about real issues that were happening in our neighborhoods and in our communities. He was a legend.”

Shortly after the deaths of Eazy-E and fellow Brownside member Danger the group disbanded.

Through the years, Toker became an advocate for prison reform and was an active philanthropist.

His cause of death is unknown.

As Paul George and his Oklahoma City Thunder brothers prep to open the NBA season tonight by playing against the Golden State Warriors in just a few hours, the star small forward is also debuting a new Nike collab for his namesake sneaker, which just so happens to be another Sony-themed set of kicks inspired by his love for video games.

The PlayStation 1-inspired PG 2.5 primarily incorporates the grey hue we all associate with the OG PS1 gaming console. The upper utilizes a mesh and patent leather base, with detailing on the tongue, side panels and insoles that show off various parts of the Playstation design. From the “sacred symbols” on the controller to the classic red, green, blue and yellow “PS” logo, no detail goes ignored on this gamer-ready upcoming release.

Expect the Paul George x Nike PG 2.5 “Sony PlayStation Grey” to drop at select retailers on December 7. See a few more pics below, and we’ll update you on pricing details when more info comes to us:
