Church Holds Non-Stop Service to Protect Refugee Family

TheSource Feed - 2 hours 24 min ago

The Bethal church in the Netherlands is currently holding a non-stop service to protect a family from being deported.  Rewind back to 2010 when the Tamrazyan family, who consists of both parents and three children, fled Armenia for political reasons. Despite multiple attempts by the family to stay in the country, the Dutch government denied their asylum, even though they have been living here for eight years.

Fortunately for the Tamrazyan’s, there are a few good people on their side; and they just happen to own a church. According to an uncommon Dutch law, authorities are prohibited from entering the church and taking the family into custody. Therefore, the church has agreed that they will perform an on-going service as long as it’s necessary to ensure the family gets to remain in the home they’ve known for the last eight years. The service has been going on now for six weeks. Theo Hettema, chairman of the General Council of Protestant Ministers in the Netherlands, told CNN. “We want to love God and our neighbor. And we thought that this was a clear opportunity to put the love for our neighbor into reality.”

The service began with only a few ministers leading the on-going sermon, but eventually, word spread like wildfire and caught wind of a notable public relations consultant, Florine Kuethe. Florine’s experience allowed her to intervene as a bridge between the family, the church and the media.

“I’m not religious, but when I heard about this, I said to my husband, ‘Don’t be shocked, but I want to go to church,’” said Kuethe. “This type of thing makes the church relevant again.”

With Kuethe now involved, being a voice for the church and the Tamrazyan’s, more people wanted to help. The service eventually went from a few ministers preaching all night to pastors joining in from all over the world. It got to be such a national movement that the church is having trouble scheduling in all the clerics who want to participate. Hayarpi Tamrazyan, the family’s eldest daughter at 21 years old couldn’t be more grateful, telling CNN in an interview that she is “incredibly happy and grateful by all the support”.

It has to be terrifying when you and your family are on the run for your freedom, many of us are lucky enough to never have to experience such panic. It also must be completely overwhelming when the kindness of strangers takes over and puts their lives on hold to save yours. It seems America is not the only country having immigration issues, it is happening all over the world. I feel that often we forget what life must be like for people outside of the U.S. because we are stuck in our little media Trump bubble. People all over are being deported from places they call home, particularly children who grew up in their new residence. Deportation is a harsh reality for too many families, so it’s both incredible and inspiring to see people sticking together to watch each other’s back in their most time of need.

Post Malone & Crocs Deliver As Promised On a Second Clog Collaboration

TheSource Feed - Mon, 12/10/2018 - 8:07pm

If you would’ve told us here at The Source that Crocs would be dropping one of the most sought-after Hip-Hop collaborations in recent footwear history, we’d probably laugh you into a corner somewhere. Well, that was until last month, when the foam footwear retailer teamed up with chart-topping rapper Post Malone for a collaboration that sold out in minutes after it went on sale. Now, after promising more for those that missed out the first round, the second collaborative release is arriving sooner than you think.

This new iteration of the Classic Clog features a yellow base — the color has become synonymous with Post Malone’s movement so far — which also incorporates a barbed wire graphic across the front. Like the previous drop, this one also comes with its own Posty-themed Jibbitz add-ons, which range from a saw blade and snake to a skull and pony head — the latter two decked out in yellow, of course. For fans of Posty Co. and all that comes with supporting the current 2019 GRAMMY “Album Of the Year” nominee, this is one drop you definitely don’t want to sleep on; it’s practically guaranteed to sell out just like the last one.

Pick up your own Post Malone x Crocs “Barbed Wire” Clog tomorrow (December 11) both online and through select Crocs retail locations starting at 2PM EST for $59.99 USD. See more pics below:

Apollo presents ‘The Kings and Queens of New Jack Swing’ Recap

TheSource Feed - Mon, 12/10/2018 - 7:37pm

Last night, mega-hit producer Teddy Riley returned to his hometown after more than 20 years and tore down the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem New York City for two sold-out shows.

Apollo presents The Kings and Queens of New Jack Swing Concert was definitely the place to be last night featuring the artists that pioneered that sound.

Celebrating 30 years of New Jack Swing, Teddy Riley and Keith Sweat headlined the show which featured appearances by the artists who topped the charts and remain legends.  Taking us on a journey through his number 1 hits, the newly inducted Hollywood Hall of Fame-inductee Teddy Riley proved why he will forever be a pillar in the music industry.

DJ-D Nice had the crowd jumping before the show even started— then casually stepped from behind the turntables to perform his single “My name is D-Nice.” DJ Eddie F murdered his turntables playing classics produced by himself and paid tribute to the great late rapper Heavy D with the audience rapping along to every single lyric.

Kool Moe Dee took us back to the “Wild Wild West” before Al. B. Sure busted out with his old school dances and ran through fan favorites, “If I’m Not Your Lover,” “Nite And Day,” and dedicated his version of “Forever My Lady” to the late Kim Porter.

SWV surprised the crowd with “I’m So Into You,” “Weak,” and “Human Nature” and didn’t miss any of their dance steps as Coko belted out the ladies anthems of the’90s.

Fans erupted when R&B group Today joined Teddy Riley onstage to perform “Him or Me,” Big Bub and the boys sounded and looked just as good as they did when the record was released.

The beautiful and ageless MC Lyte performed “Ruffneck” leaving us wanting more from one of our favorite female MC’s of that era. Teddy kept it going for the females during an emotional introduction of rapper Queen Pen following rumored health issues. She ran through “Party Ain’t A Party” with help from her son as the building stood to their feet.

Teddy Riley took time to thank all the Harlem legends that supported him in his hometown even thanking his uncle who owned ‘Willie’s Burgers’ for funding his first musical equipment.  Riley then proceeded to go through a laundry list of his platinum-produced gems before introducing Blackstreet and Dave Hollister—who sounded like a breath fresh air. Running through their number 1’s, “Stay,” “Joy,” “Before I Let You Go,” the group made us miss that old-school soulful sound.

Next, R&B group Guy hit the stage dancing and singing in perfect sync.  “Do Me,” “Piece Of My Love,” and “I Like” rang out through the historic venue in Harlem. Aaron Hall’s silky vocals had the ladies crying out as he sang while stripping into a risqué performance.

DJ Chill Will ripped his intro hyping the crowd before Doug E. Fresh annihilated the stage. Certainly claiming his throne as the greatest entertainer, he took the entire building up another notch with his energetic and captivating performance.

Almost as if he’s been frozen in time, the human beatboxer performed “The Show,” “La Di Da Di” and beatboxing classic rap songs before bringing out rapper Lil Vicious to perform their song “Freaks” while the crowd roared. Ending his set in an impeccable breathless beatboxing session with the crowd shouting, “Go Doug E, Go Doug E.!” the Harlem legend finally gave a lesson on the proper way to do the “Dougie.”

Keith Sweat closed the night crooning through “Nobody,” “Make It Last Forever,” and “I Want Her” while fans slow danced and reminisced.  The show was impeccable and a non-stop party that lasted for hours. Riley and his Kings and Queens of New Jack Swing proved that originality and talent will forever be in style.

ASICS Debuts Its First Sneaker to Feature a Full-Length GEL® Midsole

TheSource Feed - Mon, 12/10/2018 - 6:04pm

From the popular GEL-Lyte III to the more niche GEL-Mai, ASICS has always done a bang-up job when incorporating its signature GEL® technology into those intricately-designed silhouettes and even cooler colorways overall. Now, the brand is experimenting even further with its sneaker technology by introducing the GEL-Quantum Infinity — the first-ever ASICS model to feature a full-length GEL® midsole structure.

With the GEL-Quantum Infinity you get the most efficient performance kickback and optimal comfort, mainly due to the premium cushioned midsole mentioned earlier. The theme comes full circle with an “Infinity” imprint embossed in gold on the tongue and heel in Japanese Katakana characters. Other key specs include a brand new vacuum “no-sew” material on the upper, two-color gradation and premium gold detailing that makes for a clean design overall. As new sneaker designs go, these are a pretty fresh addition to the community that we’re sure will be a mainstay amongst ASICS aficionados.

The ASICS GEL-Quantum Infinity arrives for men in “Dary Grey” and “Shocking Orange” (seen above), meanwhile women will get colorways branded as “Icy Morning” and “Flash Coral.” All are available right now over at ASICS retail locations and online for $180 USD. See pics of the “Shocking Orange” hue below:

President Trump Says Hush Money Payments Are ‘Simple, Private Transaction’

TheSource Feed - Mon, 12/10/2018 - 5:46pm

Donald Trump on Monday defended hush money payments reported by his former lawyer, responding a day after Democratic lawmakers said the U.S. president could face impeachment and jail time if the transactions are proven to violate campaign finance laws.

Trump said on Twitter that Democrats were wrongly targeting “a simple private transaction.” Court filings last week drew renewed attention to six-figure payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign by Trump’s personal lawyer to two women so they would not discuss their alleged affairs with the candidate.

U.S. Representative Jerrold Nadler, who will lead the Judiciary Committee when Democrats take control of the House of Representatives next month, said on Sunday that if the payments were found to violate campaign finance laws it would be an impeachable offense.

His Democratic counterpart on the Intelligence Committee, Representative Adam Schiff, said Trump could be indicted once he leaves office and could face the real prospect of jail time.”

Under U.S. law, campaign contributions, defined as things of value given to a campaign to influence an election, must be disclosed. Such payments are also limited to $2,700 per person.

Earlier this year, Trump acknowledged repaying his former lawyer Michael Cohen for the $130,000 paid to porn star Stephanie Clifford, also known as Stormy Daniels. He previously disputed knowing anything about the payments.

RECAP: Jadakiss And Deven Angel “LIVE” at Katra NYC

TheSource Feed - Mon, 12/10/2018 - 5:36pm

A familiar gritty voice cuts through the noise and silences an already anxious crowd that was patiently waiting to hear the latest record from Bronx native Deven Angel. The crowd went crazy when they realized Jadakiss was finally in the building to help promote the new single he is featured on with Deven called “On My Bodi.”

Jadakiss immediately gave Deven much due respect for creating such a phenomenal record. His exact words were, “I get called every day to do features and things of that nature, but this song was actually dope! They played the record and I laid my verse immediately. Then they returned with the final mix for me to hear and I said you got yourself a hit.”

Jadakiss then looked at DJ Amadeus from Sirius XM radio while screaming drop that beat and the crowd roared as Deven dove right into his first verse of the song. At this moment everyone was convinced they were witnessing history in real time! Deven Angel is definitely up next and the one to watch!

The room was filled with influencers, record label reps, and media outlets from all over the East Coast. Reps from Republic Records, Bad Boy, Universal Music Group and Empire were all in attendance to get the first glimpse of Deven Angel.

Some notable influencers that also attended were celebrity stylist Ty Hunter (Beyonce/Greedilous), Mickey Boom (Victoria Secret/Lela James), Celebrity Publicist Marie Driven (Spice Official/K Goddess) and Sean Michael Frazier (CEO, SMF Global/Model).

People danced shoulder to shoulder while enjoying top-notch music, food, and drinks. Katra’s General Manager, Ra Allen said I was actually planning on closing the venue for the night. Yet, when Lucky Church calls you can’t deny him the venue. You know the place will be packed and you don’t mind. Lucky always bring positive vibes and his crowd follows his lead.”

Today in Hip-Hop History: Mobb Deep Dropped Their ‘Infamy’ LP 17 Years Ago

TheSource Feed - Mon, 12/10/2018 - 2:28pm

On this date in 2001, NYC kings of crime rhyme Mobb Deep released their fifth full-length studio album entitled Infamy on the Loud/Columbia imprint.

As the QB duo’s first album following their publicized beef on wax with Jay-Z, the controversy helped to bolster the album’s sales, recognized by the RIAA as certified gold, despite being created during the advent of the internet, in an era that will forever be known as ringtone music.

As one of the last full-length projects from the Mobb, Infamy offered up one of the few albums during that era that was approved by the streets as well as the industry. Tracks like “Get Away” and “Hey Luv,” which featured Bad Boy R&B group 112 spearheaded the album to commercial success with a more “acceptable” sound, while tracks like “The Learning (Burn)” featuring Rapper Noyd and Vita is an example of their ability to show you that the Mobb is still “Infamous”.

Salute to Prodigy(RIP), Havoc, Noyd and the rest of the Mobb who helped create this timeless piece of Hip Hop history!

Las Vegas Man Unable to Walk, See, Talk or Breathe Two Days After Getting Flu Shot

TheSource Feed - Mon, 12/10/2018 - 12:53pm

A man has been left unable to see, walk, speak or breathe unassisted just days after having the flu vaccine.

Shane and his wife Monique Morgan both had the flu shot on November 2nd to help protect their eight-month-old son Briar against the virus.

Less than two days later, Mr. Morgan started to lose feeling in his arms and legs.

After being rushed to Centennial Hills Hospital in Lone Mountain, Nevada, Mr. Morgan spent four days on a ventilator in intensive care while baffled doctors tried to uncover what was wrong.

He was later diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, which the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recognizes as a “very rare” side effect to vaccines.

GBS occurs when a person’s immune system attacks the nerves that control sensation and movement.

This causes progressive paralysis that starts in the feet and moves up through the rest of the body.

Friends of the couple have launched a GoFundMe page to raise $10,000 to pay for their “compounding medical expenses.”

The CDC claims flu vaccines have a “good safety record,” with hundreds of millions of Americans safely having the jab over the past 50 years.

Side effects tend to be mild and include pain at the site of the injection, headache, fever, nausea and muscle aches.

Four New Women Claim Child Support From Chief Keef

TheSource Feed - Mon, 12/10/2018 - 12:39pm

Chief Keef has found out that he has four more baby mamas and they all want more bread.

The Chicago drill music pioneer, whose real name is Keith Cozart, found out during a recent court visit that he has four more children from four new women and they all want child support.

For the children, who are all under the age of 5, the “Love Sosa” rapper has been ordered to pay $564 per month for each child.

Keef alleged in court that he only made $9K from his rap career, which mainly went to expenses.

In addition, Cozart is in a child support battle with a 43-year-old woman who claims he has fallen behind in his $2,500 per month payments for their child.

A judge will make a ruling in that case this week.

Leonard Fournette Allegedly Threatens Fan During Thursday’s Game

TheSource Feed - Mon, 12/10/2018 - 12:04pm

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette must love suspensions. His game this past week against the Tennessee Titans was his first week back after being a member of a brawl the week before and may find himself in the crosshairs of the league again. Footage has surfaced of Fournette threatening a fan this past Thursday.

Fournette probably wasn’t having a good day. His individual stats were not stellar and his teammates were getting ran off the field on the way to a 30-9 loss. So when a fan threw some insults at his way he didn’t respond too kindly.

“You’re too old for that. Chill out. I’m not worried about you. You want to come down here? I’ll whoop your ass,” are the words allegedly said from Fournette.

For his sake, and those that may need him for the Fantasy Football playoffs, hopefully, the league offices don’t make much of this video.

Trump Implicated in Felony Charges for Violation of Campaign Finance Laws

TheSource Feed - Mon, 12/10/2018 - 10:25am

Whenever your attorney is being investigated by the Feds, the outcome usually won’t be good. Lawyers know all the dirt and have all the receipts. This is the reality of Donald J. Trump as federal prosecutors have implicated him, along with his attorney, Michael Cohen, for violating campaign finance laws by paying off several women before the 2016 election.

The federal prosecutors have gathered that Trump devised a scheme to pay hush money to porn actress Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal. They both claimed to have had sexual encounters with the 45th President. Trump has vehemently denied having affairs with either woman.

According to the documents, Individual-1 is none other than Donald Trump.

“With respect to both payments, Cohen acted with the intent to influence the 2016 presidential election,” the filing reads. “Cohen coordinated his actions with one or more members of the campaign, including through meetings and phone calls, about the fact, nature, and timing of the payments. In particular, and as Cohen himself has now admitted, with respect to both payments, he acted in coordination with and at the direction of Individual-1.”

Cohen will face sentencing in Manhattan next week. He is charged with campaign finance violations and lying to Congress about the extent of Trump’s business affairs in Russia.

Legendary Australian Record Label ‘Unkut Recordings’ Turns 21

TheSource Feed - Mon, 12/10/2018 - 10:21am

Few names if any hold the legacy in Australia for the stamp of quality that Unkut Recordings does. Since its founding in 1997 by Rob Nat of Unkut.com and Trem of Lyrical Commission, it has developed into the epitome of its tagline – quality over quantity. While the broad fan base may at times be hanging for a new Unkut release, once it is delivered it has always proven to be raw dope. Held with the utmost respect by all, somewhat your favorite rappers most respected label, it has been responsible for not only arguably the greatest group album release ever but also several classic solo releases that are timeless classics.

The Unkut Recordings story was born out of Rob Nat’s fledgling Unkut Productions in 1996 and became formalized the year after in the lead up to the debut Sheer Talent EP from Trem. The excellent 4-track 12” release was followed up with the year after in 1999 with Trem’s Amateurs and served to cement both Trem’s and Unkut’s position as in a then still-developing Hip-Hop landscape in Australia at the time.

The following year saw Rob Nat release A Night On The Tiles, proving to be his most substantial solo release and now a highly sort after classic nationally. The label’s close working relationship to Melbourne’s legendary Nuffsaid Recordings provided them with a quality stamp of approval even before the music was played at a time when relationships were about quality control over industry favors. Coupled with significant notable features, live shows, radio appearances, crushing open mics and the sorts, Unkut forged their own path when there really was none and created their own brand.

A couple of years hiatus until the next release resulted in December 2002’s The Stage Is Set by Lyrical Commission. A super-group of sorts, the new group saw the bringing together of Melbourne’s two leading solo emcees in Brad Strut and Trem with Bob Balans (of The Formulators duo previously with Rob Nat) plus arguably Australia’s greatest ever hip-hop DJ in DJ J-Red. The result of these four coming together was what many consider as the greatest hip hop album ever to be released from Australia.

Going from strength to strength, Unkut put out Terntable Jediz classic August 2004 album All Out War before following up the next year with Lyrical Commission’s highly anticipated next chapter with their “Murderous Metaphors” 2005 EP. This release was internationally notable for containing features from Brooklyn’s Q-Unique (of The Arsonists) and Celph Titled of The Demigodz, along with the overall quality again proving to be much more than a good release hip hop from Australia, but of such quality as a great Hip-Hop release full stop. This would in retrospect prove to be a key feature of the Unkut story, that they were bringing Hip-Hop in all its aspects to the fullest quality that could hang on any stage worldwide.

The next release would be Brad Strut’s long-awaited sophomore LP Legend: Official that dropped in June 2007. The first track for this classic solo release was the three-minute heater diss-track “Monopoly” produced by Prowla and aimed largely at Obese Records, widely regarded as the best diss track from Australia Ala Ice Cube’s “No Vaseline.”

This 16-track release from Strut was a classic from start to finish, featuring Philadelphia’s Outerspace and Brooklyn’s late and great Sean Price (RIP) of Boot Camp Clik / Random Axe and a wealth of the usual Unkut suspects. Following the reissue release of Strut’s classic 2001 debut album The Authentic LP, Brad Strut released the substantial double-disc The Fallout Shelter EP, which featured a Remix disc from a somewhat who’s who of Australian producers.

Following this, all eyes turned to the most highly anticipated Hip-Hop release in Australia ever in Trem’s debut full solo album in 2011’s For The Term Of His Natural Life and it even exceeded the lofty expectations surrounding it by all. The 18-track release is the solo release of the last decade from Australia and featured DJ Revolution, long-time collaborator Q-Unique and a who’s who of Hip-Hop legends from Australia. The award-winning accompanying visuals completed the entire roll-out, with the video filmography team of FULL CLIP showcasing why they are widely considered as the best in the business down under.

Following a string of monumental releases in a rapidly changing musical landscape, Unkut Recordings seemingly took a bit of a break until the signing of Brisbane group Kings Konekted. K-Double proceeded to drop the Hip-Hop album of the year in 2015 in their debut LP on Unkut Recordings in Value Of Adaption. Superbly crafted from start to finish, the release was arguably the most polished product to have been released from Australasia since Trem’s 2011 debut solo album.

Fans of Unkut Recordings can look forward to new releases coming from the Kings Konekted camp, L-Flows and possibly more in the short-term. The wait is always worth it, so get familiar with Unkut Recordings extensive back catalog in the meantime to hear some of the best music Australia has offered over the last two decades. Quality over Quantity.
